Chef Raj Mohan is an young celebrated South Indian Food Promoter and was born in Ambasamudrum, Tamil Nadu, as the son of Mohan and Shantha. At a very young age he inherited his mother’s cooking skills by helping her in kitchen. Later he went for Hotel Management and Catering studies in Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College, Madurai.   His first experience in cooking “Biriyani” for the mass of a people in study time received great acclaim and was the milestone of knowing his culinary skills. Peelings bags of onion, burning tadka, high smoking point while frying, hurting fingers by trying to chop vegetables fast, preparing pulao without washing rice, mysorepak turning to unusal payasam and many funny end ups made him more love and passionate towards cooking. After finishing his catering course, he started to expose flavours of South India through his contemporary food approach.   Raj Mohan has worked as faculty in various catering schools and presently working as the head of the department of Hotel Management and Catering at Mary Matha College in Periyakulam. He is enriching the culinary skills to young aspirant chefs through inventive activities. Under his guidance, Thalavainadu food is researched and numerous extinct recipes are brought to life by his students. The recipes are collected from the students’ mothers, grandmothers and elders in the family, the collected recipes have crossed more than 1000 numbers and made the students to revive our heritage recipes, learn about our traditional cooking.He is inviting the students’ mothers regularly to the catering school to teach the traditional dishes to their wards.   He has launched a Free Culinary Education which christened “Intensive Kitchen Apprenticeship Training Programme” to the underprivileged candidates with the future promise of better living in the society, thus received great recognition for him.     Chef Raj Mohan hosted a long running daily foodie show “Kitchen King” at Radio Mirchi FM, Madurai since 2010 till 2015 and also he is an interesting food blogger. He has appeared in many Tamil Satellite Channels for his cooking series. He is quite popular for his everyday Television appearance in well known Cooking programme “Anjaraipetty” on Zee Tamizh Satellite Television channel. His simplest cooking demonstration in TV shows on authentic and inventive Indian food gets him household name. He is also an active member in South Indian Culinary Association and Indian Federation Culinary Association (IFCA).    He is the world record title holder of "Longest Solo Cooking Marathon" in which he cooked 1204 recipes in just 48 Hours for India Book of Records, Asia Book of Records and Limca Book of Records.   He is felicitated by the Indian Parliamentarian JM Haroon for his tireless work in reviving Thalavainadu Food of South Tamilnadu. He is working to launch the magazine for budding hoteliers.   He is the brand consultant chef for Southern Flavours, Noida – the restaurant serves authentic South Indian food in contemporary style. He is highly enthusiastic in cooking authentic and fusion South Indian Food.   Currently he is working for “Salads at Schools” project to educate the school children about healthy eating for better and long living. He launched an exclusive Foodies Tube channel named "Food Tape" - www.YouTube.com/ChefRajMohan which provides his brandnew cooking videos webseries about Indian food to reach out global foodies.   He done the most popular cookery show "Kitchen Galatta" in leading Tamil satellite Channel Sun TV on Every Thursday at 10.30am. He is contributing recipes in leading food magazines in Tamil such as Aval Kitchen, Unavu Ulagam and many others.   Presently he is doing the popular travelogue cookery show “Aaha Enna Suvai” (Woww !!
